How To Prepare For Your First Ayahuasca Experience

So, you’ve heard of psychedelics and your curiosity about them is bringing you to self-reflect on your own journey – Are you living your best life? Could you be doing things differently or better? Have you reached your ultimate purpose? These thoughts spin around in your mind constantly.

As the world becomes more connected than ever before, psychedelics are growing in popularity and are becoming more mainstream. From journeyers to scientists, everyone is suddenly recognizing that there may be more to psychedelics than what was initially believed. You’ve done a bit of research on it and it’s led you to discover Ayahuasca retreats, where self-healing and spiritual growth take place.

Now you’re even more intrigued but also somewhat scared… What does it mean? You have no idea, but you’re becoming increasingly ready to receive clarity. To get awakened…

Ayahuasca retreats sound less threatening and more up your alley than the 15-minute effects of DMT, nevertheless the idea of being in the middle of the jungle, with a traditional shaman, still seems a bit out there. You’re spiritually adventurous and ready for deep, meaningful soul-searching but taking part in the ceremony will be radical enough that you’d prefer some of the western comforts leading up to the experience and afterwards as well.

Who can blame you? We certainly can’t…

Inner Circle Ayahuasca Retreat offers the high-end accommodations of a beautiful vacation paired with the authenticity of an Ayahuasca ceremony for exactly those seekers. The goal is to create a setting for you to be physically, emotionally and spiritually prepared for what Mother Ayahuasca will reveal, as she invades your subconscious and takes hold of your emotions and memories.

For you to have the best Ayahuasca experience, we do have some recommendations for things to do beforehand. This will ensure that your experience is maximized while eliminating potential distractions.

Start meditating and slow things down – We’re not trying to convert you into some Zen yogi. Instead we want you to become comfortable with silencing your mind… And your thoughts… And your judgement… Start slowly and progress to longer sessions. Learn to appreciate the solitude of your soul. You can continue your meditation practice once you arrive at our Inner Circle Ayahuasca Retreat and sit in stillness, listening to the peaceful sounds of ocean waves crashing along the endless miles of sandy beaches. Slowing down your mind and body will be essential in the days leading up to the ceremony.

Remember that YOU are the master of your thoughts…

Set your intention beforehand – Soul-searching isn’t easy. Set your intentions out of love and not out of fear. What questions are you wanting answered and why? Having your intentions figured out prior to the ceremony will ensure that you’re able to be fully present during the entire unique, spiritual experience. Becoming fearless in acknowledging your true potential can be enlightening, unexpected and scary all at the same time. It can lead to thoughts that you’ve never contemplated before… The more open you are with what you want to find out or resolve, the more receptive you will be to accept the answers that are revealed to you.

Remember that YOU are the master of your intentions…

Get enough sleep - As much as you may think you’re a machine, the reality of the situation is that you’re not – you’re human. Give your body enough rest in the nights leading up to your ceremony. Enjoy and cherish the peacefulness of deep sleep in the comfort of your lush bed during your stay at our gorgeous suite. Recharge your soul and become fully at ease with your surroundings. We want to make sure that your whole being is well-rested and awakened prior to the ceremony.

Remember that YOU are the master of your sleep…

Be mindful of what you’re eating – Start slowly restricting your diet to unprocessed and ideally raw foods. Limit your sugar and salt intake. Alcohol and caffeine should be avoided as well. Once you arrive to your stunning accommodations in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, we will continue to serve you foods that will adhere to the Ayahuasca experience you are about to partake in. This will help ensure that once you ingest the Ayahuasca brew, your body won’t waste time trying to eliminate these toxins because they won’t be there to begin with. Instead, the focus will immediately be on reaching your deepest emotions and gaining access to your soul.

Remember that YOU are the master of your diet…

Abstain from sexual interaction up to 6 weeks prior to your ceremony… Ayahuasca is more highly experienced when you’re at your sexual peak. Your inner being will be more receptive to what Mother Ayahuasca sends your way if you’ve been sexually deprived. Let the curiosity of a potential revelation from this experience be the reason why you decide to practice abstinence.

Remember that YOU are the master of your actions…

As you continue your quest for enlightenment, do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions concerning the Ayahuasca experience we offer or our top-rated Airbnb accommodations. The decision to go on an Ayahuasca retreat is a big one and needs proper planning. The better prepared you are, the more chances you have at being witness to an experience that will fully respond to the intentions set forth, by you, in the very beginning. Be purposeful… Be curious… Be fearless…

But above all, remember that YOU are the master of your decisions…
